Bubbles

I love bubbles. Taliya does, too. I have these two little bubble bottles from a wedding, and sometimes I blow them for her. I finally decided to buy some bigger bottles. It's so fun, and I decided I wanted to take some pictures of them because they look so cool.

It's so perfect, round, and full of beautiful rainbow colors.

Like a perfect glass marble, sitting delicately on the blanket.

I blew the bubbles, quickly set the botte down, and got ready to capture this bubble. Meanwhile...

The little girl grabbed the bottle and helped clean the floor. Haha! I saw what was happening while I was still preparing to snap the photo, but I figured the deed was already done, so I just continued with what I was doing. I guess it was a stupid thing for me. Can't blame her.

Springy Stuff

This is a very nice candle I got from the dollar 25 store. Jacob likes it so much.

This is a cool picture of Jacob with the blue computer light on his face and the yellow lamp light in teh background.

This was such a springy and peaceful sunset.

Sometimes the Greasy Ditch doesn't look so bad.

Some fresh baked cinnamony bread.

Some fresh baked sandwich bread.

A Collage

Here are some random pictures of the last couple weeks or so.

I made pasca for Easter, except I didn't actually make it on Easter because we didn't have time. But, man! It was one of the best batches I've made. If you want the recipe, I think you can just search "pasca" on the blog. Of course, there are other recipes on the internet (that's where I got the recipe anyway).

Taliya looking cute.

Taliya and I in the evening.

Ugh! Those shiny blue eyes peering back at me...I love it.

Jacob probably telling Taliya that she can't go into the bathroom. She is so set on going there, so we keep the door shut. Anyway, I think this picture is cute of the two of them standing there. It is so fun that she stands now.

She's so proud of herself.

I love sneaking pictures of Jacob. Haha! He always catches me though.

Jacob got a booster seat for Taliya so she isn't always sitting in my lap for meals. It's nice, and she actually seems to like it, which we didn't think she would, at least at first.

Not sure she really enjoyed this perriwinkle patch at church.

I love taking pictures of her standing, if you haven't already picked up on that. She hasn't started walking yet though.

These two have fun together. Currently, they are both sleeping (Jacob went fishing this morning).

There she goes again!

And again. Haha! I love it.

Happy Friday!

Tuesday Morning

I got up at around 7:15. Taliya had been awake since who knows when. I know I heard her talking at 5:41!

Taliya got whiny, so I got her up, and she ate cheerios with me.

She played. She got whiny. I nursed her. She played more. She got whiny. I put her in bed.

Then I sat at the computer and drank my tea with dark chocolate and made a post about boys vs. girls. Eventually, Taliya woke up again. She got whiny. I hurried to make this stupidly boring post.

My tea is all gone. I guess I'll go get the baby.

Boys Vs. Girls

I was looking at our wedding pictures, and this picture made me laugh because it seems like such a perfect portrait of how boys and girls are different. Jacob has always (since long before we even dated) commented about how girls get together and laugh and keep laughing until they don't even know what they're laughing about. I just think it's funny how the guys are all lined up so perfectly and serious on one side while the girls are laughing and having fun on the other side.

Now, lest you think those boys never have fun...

Imperfect House

The other day I was looking at a fellow blogger's post about her house. She showed her very nice house and all the nice decorations and how everything came together so nicely. I liked it, but I truly wasn't jealous. I seriously like a less perfect house. I still appreciate other peoples' perfect and tidy, childless little homes, but I don't feel the need to have that as well. Our house is colorful and maybe chaotic to some, and if it gets out of hand, I'm sure Jacob will let me know. There is also a lot of character to our house, partly because we do have a baby, and I love it.

However, the young woman did inspire me to clean up. Sometimes I am lazy or make excuses, and the house, or at least parts of it, becomes a bit too messy. So, that day (or the next, I can't remember), I simple cleaned up. I didn't organize or anthing, just cleaned up. It felt real nice and made me want to try to keep things a little cleaner around here. Not perfect, just cleaner.

Some of our house at dusk.

One everning after I put Taliya to bed, I walked into our bedroom to see this sight. It looked so nice and cozy. It's not perfect (that's a black plastic Walmart folding table, for crying out loud), but to me, it kind of is perfect.

I really like our old house even though it comes with lots of problems.

I like all of our wooden furniture, mismatched and all unique. Also, notice the mess on both of the tables. Haha! This house never looks perfect.

Accra and Grilled Steak (That was Actually Good...Gasp)

Earlier this week Jacob grilled steak on our little tiny grill out back ($14 from Walmart, haha!). I'm known for not liking steak, and I have had it a few times. However, Jacob has cooked it twice, and I actually like his. This grilled steak was the best for sure. It was so flavorful, not raw and disgusting but also not too chewy. It was perfect. I love grilling because it smells so good, too.

I finally made accra (a fried food I first tried in Haiti). Unfortunately, it did disappoint. Haha! It was OK, but I think I overdid it on the spices or something. Also, I really don't know how to fry food. Whatever, maybe I'll get better. The stuff was so good in Haiti.

Accra is made from a root called malanga that I found at a grocery store that seems to cater to other countries. Anyway, you grate the stuff up and add spices. Maybe it need to be mooshed up more, too.

Frying

Burning them. Haha!

Not burnt, but maybe undercooked. Ugh. Frying is hard to get it just right.

Grilling.

The sun was so bright.

Our little gril and the grill master. : )

I bet the smell made the neighbors jealous.

Our feast.

Flowers 2023

Obviously, I LOVE flowers, and you had to know there was gonna be a post about flowers this spring. Actually, there will probably be another post, but I decided to go on with what I have so it won't get too long.

I don't know the name of these ones.

These violets looked nice with the cute background. : )

I don't know these either, but they are so dainty.
If you know the names of any of the flowers I don't know, feel free to show off your expertise.

The perriwinkle is passed its prime, but the few remaining flowers look nice with all that fluffy new green.

Our neighborhood with several flowering trees.

Dogwood. Did you know that the big white "petals" are actually just leaves? The actual flowers are the little tiny yellow things in the middle. At least, that's what I remember learning many years ago, so I wouldn't bet your money on it.

Not exactly flowers, but they are pink and looked so good hanging from clusters all over the maple trees.

Not sure.

Also not sure, but I love them. They are so elegant and white.

A little somethin' in our yard.

The puffy dandielions in our yard.

I guess just the pink version of the flower above.

Flowers are among my favorite things to photograph. They are so photogenic, and you don't have to get them to pose or anything. They always look so good.
