A Poem: Oh, The Sky!

This is the poem I wrote shortly after I found out I was pregnant again. My poetry game hasn't been too good lately, but I'm happy with this. It conveys the wonder and excitement of learning there is a tiny little person growing inside you.

Oh, the sky! The great big expanse of blue
The beauty I want to point out to you
The clouds that drift across like ships
The blues, grays, whites, and sunshine drips.

Oh, this beauty that fills the evening air!
The way God floods us with His loving care
The endless sky with colors so lively and bright
While you sleep safe inside, so cozy and tight.

But, someday, how I hope and pray!
I'll point up across the vast skyway
And tell you that God made it all
And He'll always hear you when you call.

But, right now, my eye drops a tear
So happy to know you're actually here
Though deep inside, hidden away
While the big sky darkens at close of day.

A New Park

On the way home from the camping trip, we passed a park not too far from our house. We decided to check it out and found that it is quite nice. After playing in the splash pad (which Taliya loved), we walked around.

There is a nice little river flowing throughout the park.

There are many nice walking paths, and many of them are good for the stroller, which we always like.

A pond with a bridge...

We found a good place to get in the water. It was so nice, and the current was strong but the water not too deep. It was perfect for playing in.

Taliya LOVES water, especially when we swing her back and forth in the current.

I love this one of her looking back at me. She was so happy and did not want to leave.

Going back home, the sunset was pretty.

What a nice evening!

Last Day

The morning we left, we first took a little hike up to this cool cave. It had a strong medal fence barring the way. It would have been cool to see inside. The air pouring out of the opening was so cold. I turned my flash on, and we could all that vapor coming out.

The fence. I guess they are very serious about keeping adventurous people out. Makes me wonder how deep it goes.

Well, that's the end of our fun camping adventures. There will probably be at least one more before the summer ends. We are really loving getting out of the city and into God's beautiful creation.

Day Two of Camping

The mornings were very chilly. I don't know how Jazzy wasn't wearing enough clothes.

We went on a morning hike to another arch.

Jacob and Josh had gone on a midnight hike while the rest of us were sleeping, and they had discovered this cave. They insisted that Jazzy and I go in. It was pretty cool but also quite muddy.

The arch. Once again, really hard to get the size and magnitude of these places.

I like having people in the pictures to help with scale.

Standing on a giant boulder underneath the arch.

A sprinkle of water fell from a tiny brook above.

Taliya "cooking" back at camp. Josh and Jazzy left, and our little family had a peaceful afternoon.

We played a bit by a dam, but it wasn't super great water. (I have another post coming up to show you a park we found near our home that has a nice river/creek flowing through it. That is the nice water.)

Anyway, Taliya is happy in water pretty much no matter what.

We kept seeing a chipmunk. It was so cute.

Camping Trip 2: The Natural Bridge

Last weekend we went camping again with Josh and his daughter Jazzy. We went to the Natural Bridge in Kentucky. It was pretty cool. Overall, we liked this place better than last place for camping. The only problem was lack of good swimming places nearby.

Our camp site was right by a little creek, which was nice. It was a little more rustic than the last place, and we liked that.

Below the Natural bridge. It is so hard to capture just how big and awesome it is.

We walked through this narrow alley to get to the top of the bridge.

The top.

There is a sky lift to bring the lazy people up. Haha!

This was the view from another cliff.

Our cute little girl.

We hiked down through these rocks.

Hanging out by the fire.

All five of us.
