Fall Festival

Earlier this month, our college hosted their annual fall festival. It sure is a festive time filled with food, rides, a bunch of people, music, and fireworks. It rained this year, and they sort of postponed the fun, but finally everyone was back on the big lawn enjoying all the festivities.

A fading rainbow hung in the sky.

Taliya watched in fascination at one of my favorite rides, the giant spinny swings.

Look at those happy faces!

Last year I was pregnant with Micah, so I didn't really want to do a laying down ride, but this year I decided I really needed to try it out.

It took a long time to get through the line, and I almost wanted to chicken out. Haha!

But I finally made it, and it turned out to be so much fun and not as scary as it looked.

Not a very good picture, but there were fireworks at the end.

I like the state fair and fall festival, but both of them bring a sense of the end, the end of summer. I love summer, so I don't like to say goodbye.

So Many Random Things I Never Got Around to Posting

I have a lot of pictures piling up that I've meant to post. It's Sunday afternoon. Jacob went fishing with his work friend, so I'm sitting here all by my lonesome while the kids nap. Of course, I love the peace, but I do miss Jacob. Anyway, I have some salted caramel black tea, a candle burning, and I'm listening to Twenty One Pilots. I've really grown to love their music. I didn't used to like them as much because their songs didn't make a lot of sense. Some of them still don't, but I've realized they have a much deeper meaning than a lot of music these days. All of that along with the cloudy mood outside, I feel a little nostolgic. Yep. That's that. Hope you enjoy these pictures.

A chestnut...

Has an extremely spikey shell that is very painful to step on when barefoot. Don't ask me how I know.

I love this little fellow's smile. I love watching babies' smiles change as they grow teeth.

I made another little zinna bouquet for a friend.

There are some lovely old houses in the neighborhoods surrounding our campus. I love going on walks and looking at them.

I always think Taliya looks so goofy wearing our shoes.

I painted another mug. It's very simple, but I like it.

Trying to remind myself to not give up.

A little bitty jungle on our balcony.

Taliya and all the babies having a nap.

Fun and games one evening in the big yard.

The shadow of my wild bucket garden. I thought it looked beautiful.

Tea on the balcony.

Who else is feeling sleepy? Sundays just have a special way of doing that, don't they?

Pumpkin Scones

My friend who had a baby a week ago just brought me scones she made. They are so delicious. I don't understand how she is already back in the kitchen baking again. I take so long to heal after having a baby. I feel bad because I should be the one bringing her  scones.

Monday Morning

I just walked Jacob to class, the kids are waking up, and the laundry is almost ready to be put in the dryer. The air is cool this morning, but I don't think it will stay cool. I savour the remaining warm days as fall quickly approaches.

I found a little bitty cosmos growing in one of my buckets this morning.

Dreaming

I've been dreaming of the country lately. I've been longing for the peace and quiet of the woods and fields and mountains. I decided to draw an old farmhouse. It looks like a perfect place to live.

First, I drew this to help myself get into the drawing mood, and sometimes it's good to make a quick sketch of something before you actually draw it.

I like watching the process of something develope.

I like the end result, even though I'm not one hundred percent satisfied with how the woods turned out.

Taliya's New Sweater

Each winter of Taliya's life so far, I have made her a sweater. That's only two, but I've been working on the third one, and it's taking longer. I guess because each year, she gets a little bigger.

State Fair

We went to the state fair in mid August. It was fun.

Some of the art pieces were just amazing, like this wooden picture made from carving and painting.

This is a close up of the texture.

This painting was also quite beautiful.

I also love the miniatures. This one has so much detail.

This one wasn't that amazing, but I thought it was neat how the laundry room was in a laundry detergent container.

I love the huge farm equipment.

While we were out there, some people were playing live country music. When they started playing "Dixie Land Delight," Jacob and I had to dance. It's kind of one of "our" songs. Taliya was dancing, too.

This ride looked way too scary for me. Haha!

We didn't go on any rides, but it was fun to just walk around and look at all the excitement.

This year we actually got to see the cattle. I love cows.

Look at how massive that bull is!

I like the sheep, too.

Some of the horses are so tall.

We got to see some of the show horses before they went in to a show.

Their riders were so dressed up.

And cutey little Micah.
