In December, I started running, which I hadn't done since I was 13 or 14. It was extremely hard at first. The first day I ran, I said I was just going to run nonstop for 5 minutes. I thought that was very little. I barely finished. It's amazing how you can think you're in shape, and then you try to run. Running is HARD! I decided I wanted to run in a 5K race. Obviously, it took months of self-training before I was ready for this. In April I ran in the first ever Derby Festival 5K.
Jacob and the kids cheered me on.
We ran by the Ohio River.
Everyone got a medal. I'm keeping mine in memory of the first official race I ran.
Jacob and I both signed up for a Memorial Day race in Alabama with his family. He ran the 10K, 5K, and one mile "fun run." He's crazy. I just ran the 5K. We surprised his family because they didn't know I had been running. It was hard, but I beat my record by about two minutes.
These pictures are from the race photographers.

Since that race, I have run a lot less. Running is good exercise, but it is hard. I am mainly just working on a personal goal for a mile time.
